3000 Noches Coyote
Coyote at 50%. The 3000 Noches range stretched to a difficult agave
Score: 3.5/5 agaves
- Producer: 3000 Noches
- Maestro: Ángel Cruz Robles
- Region: Sola de Vega, Oaxaca
- Agave: Coyote
- ABV: 50%
- Price: $70 ($$)
Verdict
A respectable effort at a rare agave, the arroqueño in the same range is the more complete release, and 3000 Noches's coyote sits a clear step below it. Coyote is an unforgiving agave: production discipline shows clearly, and at 50% 3000 Noches delivers the character without the crystallization that El Jolgorio's benchmark reaches. A credible coyote from a young producer whose direction is more interesting than the bottle's current execution. Consensus 3.5 is fair.
Legitimate coyote that doesn't quite hit the top of the category
Tasting notes
Nose: Lavender, dark fruit, hot slate
Palate: The coyote reads cleanly but not as crystallized as El Jolgorio's benchmark. 50% is appropriate
Finish: Floral, drying
The bottom line
Fine. The arroqueño is 3000 Noches' flagship
