Verdict
The nomenclature confuses newcomers (blanco is an agave here, not a style term), and that's reason enough this bottle doesn't sell as it should. Cruz's technique is visible in the glass and the proof is honest. If you've worked through the usual espadín-tobalá pairings and want something sidewise, this is a better pick than most third-agave options at its price. A Mezcalosfera or NETA shelf-mate.
Blanco the agave, not the classification – one of mezcal's better inside jokes
Tasting notes
Nose: Green melon, wet clay, faint white pepper, a thread of anise
Palate: Blanco is less common than its cousins; Cruz double-distills through clay and copper and lands at 50.4% with real presence, round mid-palate, distinct cooked-agave sweetness, and a mineral spine the clay contributes
Finish: Warm, slightly peppery, long
The bottom line
Buy it if you're past your tenth bottle and want a new agave
