5 Sentidos Ensamble de 4 Plantas

García and García collaborate – espadín grounds the karwinskii above it

Verdict

A quieter sibling to the straight bicuishe-madrecuishe, and in some ways the more approachable bottle – espadín gives newcomers a familiar anchor while the karwinskii agaves do the heavy lifting. Not the pick for someone already deep into the family, but a sensible first step from the ensamble-curious drinker graduating past Banhez-tier blends.

Espadín earns its keep here as architecture, not flavor

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave over wet stone, dry herb, a flick of citrus

Palate: Adding espadín to a karwinskii-heavy base risks flattening the mineral character; at 48.45% the blend holds balance, espadín giving shape without dominating. The bicuishe and madrecuishe still carry the structural load

Finish: Chalky, clean

The bottom line

Worth owning as an on-ramp to the karwinskii catalog
