Verdict

Vasquez works out of the same San Isidro Guishe palenque area as Atenogenes García, and this release runs the same play at a slightly lower proof. If you've had the García ensamble, this plays as a variant; if not, it's a sensible starting point that costs less to find. 5 Sentidos releasing multiple six-plant blends from adjacent producers is exactly the cataloging work the category needs more of.

A lower-proof echo of García's six-agave statement, less commanding but honest

Tasting notes

Nose: Stone up front. Dry herb, cooked agave, green melon underneath

Palate: The 46.3% proof runs a hair below where this kind of blend needs to live, which shaves some texture off the mid-palate. Still, Vasquez's intent shows through in how cleanly each component finds its register

Finish: Clean, mineral. Stays medium-long

The bottom line

A reasonable ensamble at the mid-proof tier; García's version is stronger
