Verdict
Alejandro's leather work is more interesting when he's blending than when he's solo, and this release makes the case. Three consensus ratings at 3.8 is a touch below where the bottle drinks, the sierra negra contribution is the difference. Compared to Mal Bien's sierra negra releases, this is sweeter and more textured; worth picking up if you want to see what leather-resting can add to a heavier ensamble.
Sierra negra is the co-star that makes the gimmick feel earned
Tasting notes
Nose: Roasted agave, then dry hide, ripe pear, faint tobacco
Palate: Sierra negra gives the blend the structural weight espadín needs to support leather-rest aromatics; at 48.3% the liquid finds a balance the straight espadín 'de cuero' sometimes misses
Finish: Warm, faintly smoky. Long
The bottom line
Buy it if you're curious about 'de cuero' and want it with real weight behind it
