5 Sentidos Jabali-Tobala - Reynaldo Alejandro

Alejandro's quieter take on the jabalí-tobala ensamble – softer edges, similar bones

Score: 4.0/5 agaves

Verdict

If Martinez's version is the declaration, Alejandro's is the discussion. Three consensus ratings at 4.0 is about right, the bottle is legitimately good, slightly less electric than its neighbor. A useful second pour if you already own the Martinez and want to taste the same agaves through a different hand. Comparable in intent to some of the Nuestra Soledad two-agave blends.

The same ensamble, a different producer – Alejandro prefers grace to muscle

Tasting notes

Nose: Ripe fruit, then wet wood, mineral water, faint cocoa

Palate: Alejandro's rig in the same Albarradas territory runs a hair lower in proof (48-50% vs Martinez's 51%), and the blend reads more round, less savage. The agaves are both legible; the emphasis is on harmony rather than intensity

Finish: Warm, quietly perfumed. Long

The bottom line

Buy it alongside the Martinez jabali-tobala if you want to compare hands
