Verdict
Tío Pedro Lalo is one of the consistent names in 5 Sentidos' Santa Catarina Minas releases. This bottle is strong evidence why: sierrudo and arroqueño are two of the heaviest wild agaves available, and combining them in one clay-still-distilled bottle at 50.5% is a production dare that Tío Pedro Lalo's hand answers with coherence. The Minas clay-still texture makes the density drinkable rather than oppressive. Consensus matches. A serious ensamble at a serious price.
Heavy-agave ensambles need a producer who won't compromise
Tasting notes
Nose: Dark honey – then hot clay, warm earth, dry herb
Palate: Massively textured at 50.5% – Minas production plus two dense wild agaves equals a drink you feel in your chest
Finish: Endless. Saline, warming, mineral
The bottom line
A multi-agave bottle that earns its complexity at a serious price
