Verdict
One consensus rating at 4.0 aligns with our tasting. Proof is the lever here, the Juarez refrescador has a ceiling at modest ABVs, and pushing above 50% lets the agaves actually deliver. Compared to the sub-50% Juarez releases in this batch, this is noticeably more convincing. Not essential, but a useful document of what the rig can do when pushed.
At 50.9% the refrescador stops whispering
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet stone over cooked agave, stone, dry herb, green pepper
Palate: Mexicano grounds tobaziche's green sharpness; at 50.9% Luis Enrique Juarez extracts more from the refrescador than the family normally coaxes out, the blend is the rig's better showing
Finish: Dry, mineral. Stays long
