Verdict
Tobalá at 40% is the worst version of the agave. The aromatic character that defines tobalá can't register at commercial proof; the bottle exists to put the word on a shelf label at a price. The Agave Macho line is consistent in its compromises – that's the nicest thing we can say. Banhez Tobalá is the same money and actually delivers the agave.
Tobalá at 40% proof is a bottle for label-readers
Tasting notes
Nose: Muted wildflower with sweet agave
Palate: Thin, tobalá's aromatics stripped by dilution
Finish: Floral – short
