Verdict
Agave Mixtape's collaborations are consistently serious work. The project exists to give specialty producers (Lalocura, Mal Bien sources, others) an additional release channel for experimental bottles, and Dani's espadín-with-quiote at 49% is a clear example of the ambition: cultivated espadín treated with wild-agave techniques, the quiote distilled in for vegetal depth. Reviewer consensus aligns. A thinking-drinker's espadín that earns its narrow-distribution pricing.
Quiote-distilled espadín is the narrow-distribution conversation at its peak
Tasting notes
Nose: Rich cooked agave – then hot citrus, warm clay, green herb
Palate: Concentrated at 49% – the quiote adds a vegetal edge the standard espadín doesn't have
Finish: Warming, saline, very long
The bottom line
A thinking-drinker's espadín
