Verdict

Mexicano is the agave that tempts producers to chase the fruit and forget the structure. Raul Garcia mostly resists, letting the mango and banana sit on a mineral floor rather than floating free. It is a friendly pour more than a profound one. Reach for it when you want rhodacantha's brightness and do not need the long meditation.

Tropical without tipping into candy

Tasting notes

Nose: Mango skin, green banana, wet stone, a faint floral lift

Palate: Medium-bodied at 48-51%. Mexicano's tropical fruit arrives first, then a herbal-mineral turn keeps it from going sweet

Finish: Medium, fruity, drying at the edges

The bottom line

A friendly mexicano; pour it early in the night
