Verdict
Four-agave ensambles ask a lot, and this 2018 SLDR vintage holds together better than most of them manage, even though cirial and tobalá share space that would read cleaner with three agaves instead of four. Useful as a vintage study for drinkers who want to hear San Luis del Rio in the year it was bottled. A working Alipus; the anniversary bottles are still the pick.
Four-agave ensambles done with discipline
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave up front. Warm stone, mineral, floral edge underneath
Palate: Layered, each of the four agaves finds a register
Finish: Drying, cooling, long
The bottom line
A reliable Alipus for the village
