Verdict

Reposado at 37% is reposado in name only, two points above the NOM minimum, dressed in oak, sold at a premium. The Amaras base wasn't strong enough unaged; aging it doesn't rescue a bottle, it multiplies the problem. 3.4

Thirty-seven percent should not appear on a reposado label

Tasting notes

Nose: Muted smoke, then oak, confected vanilla

Palate: Diluted and sweet, the aging cannot rescue low-proof production

Finish: Short, oaky, muddled
