Verdict

Amateco's cooperative-palenque model is Banhez's thesis rendered at a slightly higher proof – shared resources, shared discipline, individual-maestro distinctiveness traded for consistency. At 48% the bottle comes through as a credible community entry. Not flashy, not supposed to be. A reasonable alternative to Banhez Ensamble if you want the cooperative model with a touch more proof.

Community-model mezcal at producer-level quality

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave, warm stone, mineral damp

Palate: Clean, cooperative production with clear discipline

Finish: Dry, slate-tinged – long
