Verdict

Two consensus reviews at 3.8 runs slightly above where we'd land. Ánimas is a mid-tier brand doing dependable work, and this cuishe is a respectable but not distinctive entry into the karwinskii family. Compared to a Rey Campero cuishe at similar tier, this reads lighter and less structured. If you want a gateway cuishe, the Ánimas works; if you want a reference, look at the 5 Sentidos bicuishe family instead.

A cuishe without adventure but also without fault

Tasting notes

Nose: Wet stone, cucumber, cooked agave, faint white pepper

Palate: Luis Angeles Reyes runs a clean copper rig and at 48% the cuishe shows the mineral backbone the agave wants. Less particular than some of the single-palenque releases elsewhere in the category, but cleanly made

Finish: Iron-tinged, dry. Stays medium-long

The bottom line

Pass for a 5 Sentidos karwinskii; buy if you want a clean, gentle cuishe
