Verdict
Two consensus reviews at 4.0 is a half-step above our read. Ánimas's tobalá is capable work at a fair price, but the category has reference bottles (Real Minero, 5 Sentidos Martinez) that do more for similar money. If you're new to tobalá this is fine; if you already own one, there's no reason to add this specifically. Compared to a Mezcalosfera tobalá, less distinctive.
A tobalá that checks the boxes without drawing new ones
Tasting notes
Nose: Wildflower, then wet stone, cooked agave, faint pear
Palate: At 48% the proof is correct; the aromatic lift is present but less pronounced than in the category's reference tobalás. Copper rig, clean work, modest signature
Finish: Floral, mineral
The bottom line
A pass for a 5 Sentidos or Real Minero tobalá at comparable price
