Verdict
Bozal's Durango sourcing shows in a cleaner-than-average cenizo result – not the most distinctive bottle in the state, but the most reliable Bozal wild-agave Durango release for drinkers new to the region. Buy it to build Durango vocabulary; climb to Burrito Fiestero once the register is familiar.
The best Bozal Durango release in the lineup
Tasting notes
Nose: Pine, warm stone, dry hay, a faint floral high note and trace of mineral damp
Palate: Lean and northern at 47%. Bozal's production discipline applied to a less-distributed northern agave produces a cleaner Durango cenizo than most of what the state exports commercially
Finish: Cooling, dry, with a slow pine fade – long
The bottom line
A dependable Durango pick
