- ABV: 48.4%
- Price: $150 ($$)
Verdict
Not every sourced release clicks. Bozal's breadth is the project's value proposition and its occasional failure mode, broad sourcing means the village-producer match is sometimes off, and this is one of those bottles. Skip and go to Campanilla del Palmar for SLP chino verde done by a producer whose hand is on the agave.
Not every SLP release hits
Tasting notes
Nose: Dry grass, faint smoke, warm earth and a trace of herbal underneath
Palate: Lean at 48.4% but somewhat muddled, the SLP chino character doesn't come together the way the variety does in other specialty-producer hands
Finish: Uneven, with a slow herb fade – medium-long
The bottom line
Campanilla's SLP range outperforms
