Verdict

San Lorenzo Albarradas runs drier than the tobalás drinkers usually learn on, the more-distributed villages push sweeter, which is a production choice as much as a village one. Cinco Elementos at 47.6-50% gives you the dry register without the Del Maguey markup. Buy it to understand what terroir actually does to the same agave across villages.

A village-disciplined tobalá

Tasting notes

Nose: Wildflower, sweet smoke, warm citrus, mineral damp

Palate: Aromatic and textured

Finish: Floral, drying. Very long

The bottom line

A solid wild-agave pick
