Verdict
One of the more distinctive Puebla releases 5 Sentidos has put out and a reliable candelillo reference, the only other comparable pour we keep reaching for is a Lalocura run from a few years back. Macedas is building a quiet reputation and this bottle is why. Hunt it while you can; candelillo harvests don't scale and the series is effectively a single-producer run.
Candelillo rewards the producer who trusts it, and Macedas trusts it
Tasting notes
Nose: Wildflower. Then cooked pear, limestone dust, fresh eucalyptus
Palate: Candelillo doesn't show up often on American shelves and Macedas treats the agave as the point – 46.9% is enough to carry the floral lift, and the mid-palate has a real structural dryness that stops it drifting sweet
Finish: Floral, mineral. Stays long
The bottom line
Worth chasing. Candelillo like this doesn't get bottled often
