Verdict

Four consensus reviews at 3.8 tracks with our 3.5 read. Pedro Garcia Patricio's work is legitimate, but the clay choice with papalote trades something essential, papalote's aromatic lift benefits from copper's cleaner extraction. If you want Guerrero papalote, reach for the Vicenzio Miranda or Benigno Sánchez versions in the same catalog. Compared with those, this is warmer and less lifted.

Clay on papalote is unusual; here the trade is texture for aromatic reach

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave with wet earth, faint pepper

Palate: Chilapa's papalote runs slightly heavier than the Ahuacuotzingo or Xochipala versions; at 48.9% through clay, Garcia's release has weight but doesn't quite open the florals as fully as the copper rigs do for Guerrero papalote

Finish: Warm, herbal

The bottom line

Pass for Miranda's or Sánchez's Guerrero papalote
