Verdict
A single consensus rating of 3.5 runs a half-step above our read. Alejandro deserves credit for attempting the combination, but pairing cucharilla with one of the category's most prized agaves is a trade we'd never make, the cucharilla's vegetal line overrides the tobalá's aromatics. If you must try cucharilla, try it solo; if you want tobalá, take Martinez's straight version.
Cucharilla is a history lesson nobody asked for at brunch
Tasting notes
Nose: Wildflower, then vegetable stem, faint pepper, cooked agave
Palate: Cucharilla (a non-agave bromeliad) is a historical curiosity rather than a modern pleasure, and at 45.7% the tobalá can't fully mask the vegetal note the bromeliad contributes. Alejandro's hand is fine; the ingredient choice isn't
Finish: Medium, vegetal, mineral
The bottom line
A pass. Take the straight Martinez tobalá
