Verdict

Cuentacuentos is strongest on the Guerrero agaves and reliable across the Oaxacan wilds – the cuishe at 47.9% delivers the karwinskii character cleanly without reaching for drama. Consistency across agave types is part of why the producer is worth tracking. Buy the cuishe if you're already inside the Cuentacuentos catalog; start with the mexicano or tepextate if you're not.

A respectable cuishe from a consistently strong producer

Tasting notes

Nose: Green pepper, wet stone, mineral damp and a faint floral high note

Palate: Lean. At 47.9%, cuishe's character intact with the producer's signature discipline applied. Not at the top of the category of Cuentacuentos's Guerrero papalotes but a respectable cuishe in its own right; the karwinskii family's vegetal-iron-tinged register comes through cleanly across the palate

Finish: Cooling, drying, with a slow green-herb fade

The bottom line

Fine
