Verdict
Largo is a karwinskii variant that tends to read more vegetal than cuishe or madrecuishe, and Rufino Felipe Martinez handles it cleanly – but 46% is a real ceiling on this agave family. Reach for the Cuish cuish or the Mezcalosfera madrecuishe if you want karwinskii at the proof it deserves. Named maestro, undersold proof.
Karwinskii wants 48%+; this is the bottle to stock next to one that delivers
Tasting notes
Nose: Celery, pine, dry grass, a thin mineral note
Palate: 46% is a ceiling for karwinskii and largo deserves higher – Rufino's hand is careful but the proof holds the agave back from where it wants to go
Finish: Dry, clean – medium
The bottom line
A pass unless you're mapping the karwinskii subspecies – then pour carefully
