Verdict
Tepeztate bottles rarely land at 51% and when they do it's either a mistake or a commitment. Fransisco Gaspar's release is the latter – Ejutla's tepeztate at full throttle, peppery and mineral and unmistakable. Buy this over the Mitla releases in the same catalog if you want the agave at its most declarative. Cuish keeps expanding the tepeztate map.
Tepeztate that doesn't apologize for the proof
Tasting notes
Nose: Green bell pepper, wet stone, cracked black pepper, citrus peel
Palate: 51% ABV is unusually assertive for tepeztate and Fransisco Gaspar uses it – Ejutla terroir pushes a drier, more peppery expression than the standard Oaxacan tepeztate
Finish: Hot, mineral, very long
The bottom line
Buy for the proof honesty alone. Tepeztate at 51% means it
