Verdict
Del Maguey's arroqueño is a serious bottle that the brand's broader reputation sometimes gets in the way of. This is not a Vida step-up; this is a different register of drink. If you want to understand why the Carlos family's work in Minas matters, this is a faster answer than reading about it.
Arroqueño is an agave that asks for patience
Tasting notes
Nose: Dark honey, bay leaf, cigar box, warm leather
Palate: Enormous weight for the category, arroqueño's density meets the Santa Catarina Minas clay-still signature, and neither backs down. 49% holds it together
Finish: Very long, mineral, warm
The bottom line
One of Del Maguey's best. Don't pour it at a party
