Verdict
Boca del Cerro is the Del Maguey village expression that doesn't get the attention the others do, and we'd argue it's better than its reputation suggests. The village sits in a slightly different register than Chichicapa (drier) and San Luis del Rio (less mineral), which is exactly the kind of subtle regional distinction Del Maguey's village program exists to surface. Consensus 4.2 matches our read, a genuinely interesting village worth tasting alongside Chichicapa and SLDR in the same flight.
The sleeper in the Del Maguey village range
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet earth, citrus peel, sweet smoke, a faint mineral edge
Palate: Brighter than San Luis del Rio, a touch more river rock than Chichicapa – Boca del Cerro sits in its own quiet spot within the Del Maguey village lineup. 46% is the standard frame
Finish: Clean, drying. Stays long
The bottom line
Worth it if you can find it. Rotation-worthy
