Del Maguey VIDA Puebla
Puebla espadín at 40% – Vida's even softer cousin

- Producer: Del Maguey Mezcal

- Agave: Espadin
- ABV: 40%
- Price: $38 ($)
Verdict
Vida Puebla extends the Del Maguey compromise into a second state without improving the formula. 40% ABV is 40% ABV regardless of village, and Puebla deserves better representation than a commercial-proof espadín. Skip in favor of Derrumbes Puebla or the Cuish Puebla pichumetl if you want the state bottled with intention. Vida's model doesn't travel well.
Vida Puebla is Vida with a different ZIP code and the same compromise
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave. Then vanilla, faint smoke
Palate: Puebla espadín at commercial 40% – thin, sweet, engineered for accessibility rather than character
Finish: Clean, faintly sugary, short
The bottom line
A skip; Puebla has better ambassadors
