Verdict
Delirio's joven is the bottle that shows up at decent restaurants as the house mezcal pour and never leaves a memory. It isn't flawed, it's just forgettable. Skip in favor of Banhez's ensamble for half the price or Cuish espadín for twice the personality. Forgettable is a form of failure in a category built on character.
A mezcal that does nothing wrong except exist
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave, then light citrus, a thin smoke
Palate: Fernando Santibañez's Matatlán espadín at 42% – competent, inoffensive, unremarkable
Finish: Clean, short
The bottom line
Skip. The category has too many better options
