Verdict
This bottle rewards patience. On a first pour it can read as flat; by the third it has opened into something distinctly Michoacán – rounder and less showy than its siblings in the Derrumbes range. Worth a bottle on a shelf of known quantities.
Michoacán is the region that rewards the second sip more than the first
Tasting notes
Nose: Damp wood walks in first. Then warm earth, cooked apple, gentle smoke
Palate: Softer than Durango, more earthy than Oaxacan – an understated bottle that doesn't announce itself
Finish: Warm, a little sweet – medium-long
The bottom line
A quiet bottle. Don't judge it by the first sip
