Verdict
Respectable, unspecific, workmanlike – the bottle does its job without arguing for itself beyond price. The 47% proof is the real producer decision: one of the few commercial-tier espadíns that commits to proof that earns the agave instead of the 40% floor. Buy it as a working house espadín that respects the drinker; the Rústico doesn't flash, but it doesn't lie either.
A workable village espadín bottled at proof that earns the agave for once
Tasting notes
Nose: Warm stone, then cooked agave, faint smoke, green apple, a brief herbal high note that fades quickly
Palate: Clean at 47%. Standard Matatlán espadín profile with a touch more proof than the commercial 40-42% versions – which means the agave has room to show rather than getting flattened by water
Finish: Medium-long and dry, with a faint smoke fade and a trace of cooked-fruit sweetness
The bottom line
Fine as a house espadín; the wild-agave Don Amados are where the brand actually earns the premium
