Espadín at 47.5%, a baseline bottle at proof that earns the agave, which makes more difference than most brands admit
Score: 3.5/5 agaves

- Maestro: Antonio Hernandez Lopez
- Region: Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca
- Agave: Espadin
- ABV: 47.5%
- Price: $150 ($$)
Verdict
Not elaborate, but honestly built from the proof up. 47.5% is a few real points above the 40-42% commercial tier, and the difference is legible across every part of the palate, better weight, longer finish, cleaner agave expression. Buy it as a house espadín that actually earns its shelf space; most commercial espadíns at the same price are lying about what proof is for.
A solid mid-tier espadín that earns its keep on proof alone
Tasting notes
Nose: Warm stone first, then then cooked agave, mineral damp, a trace of smoke, faint green apple
Palate: Clean at 47.5%. Don Lorenzo's entry bottle runs a few proof points higher than the mid-tier commercial norm and shows it, the agave has room to develop, the texture has weight, the mid-palate doesn't evaporate the way 40-42% espadíns do
Finish: Drying, with a faint smoke fade, long
The bottom line
Fine as a house espadín when you want real proof
