Verdict
Tobalá rewards a light hand, and Artemio Morales Cortés keeps this one floral and easy at 45 percent. The orange blossom and stone fruit lead, the minerality holds the line underneath, and nothing is overworked. It will not chase a Del Maguey Tobalá on depth, but buy it when you want the wild little agave at a friendly proof and price.
Tobalá that leads with the flowers
Tasting notes
Nose: Orange blossom, ripe peach, wet earth, honey, a cool herb
Palate: Floral and round at 45%, tobalá's stone-fruit sweetness checked by a dry mineral base. Gentle proof, generous aromatics
Finish: Medium-long, floral, clean
The bottom line
Buy it for approachable wild tobalá
