Verdict

Skip this one if you already have a Del Maguey or Vago tepextate in the cabinet, the Esfuerzo version clears the category floor but stops well short of the aromatic complexity the agave should deliver at this price. The proof is adequate; the imagination isn't. A mid-tier tepextate that earns its placement and argues for nothing beyond it, consensus 3.0 is honest.

A respectable tepextate with a clear ceiling the producer doesn't quite break

Tasting notes

Nose: Wildflower, wet stone, a faint herbal high note, mineral damp underneath

Palate: Medium at 47.65%. The tepextate character reads clearly but doesn't layer the way the reference tepextates do, you get the aromatic lift and iron-tinged mid-palate, but the progression from nose to finish is more additive than developmental

Finish: Cooling, drying, with a slow floral fade, long

The bottom line

Fine for category exposure
