Verdict

Unico is the Fidencio for smoke-averse drinkers. It's made with the same care as the Clásico, but at 40% the aromatics have less to work with. We prefer the Clásico at the same price.

The cleanest mezcal Fidencio makes – and also the least interesting

Tasting notes

Nose: Soft smoke up front. Pear, cooked agave, faint vanilla underneath

Palate: Smoother and thinner than the Clásico – the lower proof takes the edges off

Finish: Clean, sweet – medium

The bottom line

A smoke-friendly Fidencio. Buy the Clásico instead
