Verdict

Not every tobalá needs to smell like honey. Fuego y Humo's leans mineral – closer to what Lalocura does with potatorum than to the sweeter Jolgorio or Banhez expressions. If honeyed tobalá has started feeling monotonous, this is the pour that resets the palate.

Tasting notes

Nose: Wet stone, then citrus peel, dried flowers

Palate: Drier than Chichicapam tobalás – more river rock than honey. 47% keeps the aromatics high; the palate is lean and saline through the mid

Finish: Medium-long, mineral, floral

The bottom line

Buy if honeyed tobalá bores you
