Verdict
Sierra negra in refrescador makes copper still look thin. Gozona's version stacks up honestly against Don Lorenzo's and comes out ahead on texture. The 47.5% is a little conservative for the refrescador – another point would push it to great, but the liquid is easily among the better sierra negras in circulation.

Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave with baked earth, dried mint
Palate: Sierra negra's meaty character meets refrescador texture; 47.5% carries it without leaning hot. The palate is savory, slightly sweet, with a tahona-fiber grip
Finish: Earthen, warming – long
The bottom line
Buy. Among the better sierra negras
