Verdict
Mexicano has a growing following because the agave rewards attention; this bottle gives you enough of it to understand the appeal, not enough to answer why the cult exists. The Gracias a Dios house proof stops a couple steps short of where mexicano actually lives. Rey Campero's mexicano is the same money and the full argument.
Mexicano's character can survive commercial-tier production
Tasting notes
Nose: Green herb, then cooked agave, faint mineral
Palate: Cleaner and thinner than the reference mexicanos – the producer's standard profile
Finish: Medium, dry, herbal
The bottom line
Rey Campero's mexicano outperforms at similar money
