Verdict

Tepextate at 42% is tepextate in library mode, the agave is present in outline, never in body. Pass, and put the money toward El Destilado's Pichomel or any tepextate north of 48%.

Tasting notes

Nose: Light pepper, faint floral, wet grass

Palate: Tepextate under 48% is a losing proposition. Hugo Cesar García González's marmorata has the aromatic seeds of something better, but 42% never lets them open

Finish: Muted, short

The bottom line

Pass. Proof too low
