Verdict

Tepextate at 46% is tepextate allowed to finish its sentence. Grulani's is easily the best tepextate I've had under $80 – fully the equal of Real Minero or Cuentacuentos on aromatic intensity, if a hair less layered. Hunt it before the price moves.

Tasting notes

Nose: Tomato leaf. Then wet stone, green pepper, dry flowers

Palate: The marmorata herbal snap is fully in front; 46% is the correct floor for tepextate. Leonardo Hernandez delivers the agave's nervous green register without sanding

Finish: Very long, herbal, dry

The bottom line

Worth chasing. Benchmark tepextate
