Gusto Historico Jabali
Jabalí at 49.1% – Juan Vázquez at the convallis edge
Score: 3.8/5 agaves
- Producer: Gusto Histórico
- Maestro: Juan Vázquez
- Region: Miahuatlán, Oaxaca
- Agave: Jabali
- ABV: 49.1%
- Price: $155 ($$)
Verdict
A well-made jabalí that sits a half-step below the category's best. Juan Vázquez gets the proof right and the aromatics clean; the density just doesn't match Grulani's or Real Minero's. Still a legitimate convallis pour. Buy if you're collecting the Miahuatlán side of the category.

Tasting notes
Nose: Lemon peel, pine, dried mint, cooked agave
Palate: 49.1% is right at the threshold where jabalí stays electric. Juan Vázquez's is cleaner than Ramos-tier Gusto Histórico but a touch less concentrated; the convallis acidity stays crisp, the palate stays nervy
Finish: Tart, mineral – long
The bottom line
The pick for Miahuatlán jabalí
