Verdict
Puntas are a format where composition counts as much as proof. Virgilio Velasco Perez's San Luis del Río version has interesting aromatics but doesn't match the Juarez puntas for coherence. Buy if you're completing a puntas set; reach for the Juarez bottles first.

Tasting notes
Nose: Green pepper, then cooked agave, dry flowers, alcohol heat
Palate: 59.1% puntas with three wild-leaning agaves; Virgilio Velasco Perez has the aromatics but not the structural integration of the Juarez puntas. The alcohol runs a touch ahead of the agaves
Finish: Hot, herbal
The bottom line
Pass in favor of the Juarez puntas
