Verdict
Juan Vázquez's multi-agave puts him in the top third of Gusto Histórico producers for us. Where lesser ensambles add flavors, this one orchestrates them, every wild agave in the blend has a clear role. The copper-still version of the same idea as the Ramos four-agave above, and by most readings better composed. If you can only buy one Gusto Histórico ensamble, this is it.
An ensamble written like a sentence, not stacked like a pile
Tasting notes
Nose: Wet leaf up front. Mineral water, honey, thyme, white pepper underneath
Palate: 46.9% – Vázquez's copper still gives this blend a rounder body than the refrescador releases, with tobalá sweetness threading through the karwinskii pair's woody astringency and the tepextate's peppery top
Finish: Layered, floral
The bottom line
If it's on the shelf, take it. The ensamble benchmark in the brand's catalog
