Verdict
Kaín Santiago's tepextate has the right aromatic profile, peppery, floral, mineral – but at 46% the marmorata never fully arrives. Tepextate usually needs 47%+ to stretch its legs, and you can feel the absence here. A competent bottle that would rate a half-agave higher at 48-49%. For a tepextate masterclass, go to the Gusto Histórico Flor Sánchez above, or Lalocura's.
A good tepextate undersold by its proof
Tasting notes
Nose: Green pepper, white flower, damp stone, faint pineapple
Palate: 46% – the proof is where this tepextate runs into trouble; the marmorata wants more volume than 46% can give it, and the resulting palate feels a little flattened even though the aromatics are correct
Finish: Medium, peppery, short of where it could be
The bottom line
The pick for curiosity; go bigger for reference
