Verdict
Joyas Oaxaqueñas Joven is the sort of bottle that gives the category a chip on its shoulder, the bare-minimum Tlacolula espadín at duty-free pricing. There is no angle from which this is a reasonable purchase when Banhez and Vida exist at roughly the same tier. Skip on principle as much as on flavor.
Engineered to be cheap and look Mexican
Tasting notes
Nose: Thin cooked agave up front. Faint chemical top, dilute smoke underneath
Palate: 37-42% – a bottom-shelf commercial Tlacolula espadín at a proof range that confirms the intent. Thin, sweet, brief
Finish: Sugary, gone – short
The bottom line
Skip. Vida or Banhez do this better for similar money
