La Medida Bicuishe

Ejutla-Miahuatlán bicuishe – karwinskii's nervy green side, two maestros, no excuses

Score: 3.5/5 agaves

La Medida Bicuishe bottle

  • Region: Ejutla, Miahuatlán, Oaxaca
  • Agave: Bicuishe
  • Price: $70 ($$)

Verdict

La Medida's bicuishe is an argument for buying karwinskii from Ejutla – the blend of Cortés Aragón and Hernandez runs greener and more vegetal than the Cuish house style, and the proof is carrying it the distance. Not as deep as Nuestra Soledad's madrecuishe work, but it's half the price and meaner on the midpalate. Consensus 3.7; our read 3.5.

Bicuishe is karwinskii showing its nerves. This one doesn't hide them

Tasting notes

Nose: Fresh-cut grass, then peanut, vegetal damp, a soap-water note under green produce

Palate: Nervy and bright mid-palate. The karwinskii green signature sits forward; the blend between Cortés Aragón and Cipriano Hernandez reads less as compromise than as doubled intensity

Finish: Medium-long, grassy, cool, with a mineral tail

The bottom line

Buy when you want karwinskii at Ejutla volume
