Verdict
La Venenosa Azul is the brand's most approachable bottle and its most philosophically interesting, running blue agave through raicilla tradition rather than tequila's industrial line shows the difference production makes. 41.8% is the category's weak spot; at 45% this would be a 4. Consensus 3.9; we rate 3.5.
Blue agave out of the tequila factory, back into Jalisco tradition
Tasting notes
Nose: Tropical fruit, then grassy green, a faint mineral, hints of tequila-adjacent agave sweetness
Palate: Light and tropical at 41.8%. Azul (Weber blue) in a raicilla context reads surprisingly distinct from tequila, the traditional Jalisco production methods strip the commercial blueprint and leave the agave's raw character
Finish: Tropical, cool close
The bottom line
Buy for the concept. Amula if you want peak Venenosa
