Verdict
La Venenosa Etnica Tutsi Mai is another anthropological document under a drinking label – the Cora community's production is worth preserving on shelves whether or not it matches any particular palate expectation, and Morales's brand is doing the preservation work few others attempt. Not a 'buy for taste' recommendation as much as a 'buy for record.' Consensus 4.1; we agree.
The Cora tradition is its own grammar. Translation is approximation
Tasting notes
Nose: Damp earth, then green herb, cooked fiber
Palate: Earthy and restrained at 41.1%. The Cora-tradition production is different enough from Oaxacan palenque work that the comparison is almost unfair – maguey mai in this context plays as a texture and a place more than a flavor inventory
Finish: Earthy, cool, slow fade
The bottom line
The pick for the document. Sip for the difference
