La Venenosa Tabernas Edición II
Tabernas Edición II chico aguiar at 44.5% – the brand doing Tabernas right

- Producer: La Venenosa
- Region: El Tuito, Jalisco
- Agave: Chico Aguiar
- ABV: 44.5%
- Price: $40–90 ($$)
Verdict
Buy Edición II instead of the base Tabernas – 44.5% lets the chico aguiar and the Tabernas region both read clearly, and Morales's proof decision here corrects the error the 40% base made. Not peak Venenosa; a legitimate entry in the catalog that the base bottling should have been from the start. Nothing to dispute in the 3.5 consensus.
Edición II is Tabernas finally getting the bottle it earned
Tasting notes
Nose: Tropical fruit with mineral damp, a coastal hum
Palate: Middle-weight and cleanly drawn at 44.5%. The Edición II is what the base Tabernas should have been, chico aguiar at proof is vivid enough to make the regional case, and the production is focused
Finish: Medium-long, tropical-river rock, cool close
The bottom line
Edición II corrects the base's proof error. The Tabernas bottle worth owning
