Verdict
Lagrimas de Dolores Tepemete is another de la Cruz win for the brand, the Durango-variant treatment of a marmorata-family agave at 47% makes the regional case the way La Medida's tepextate at 46% doesn't quite. Lamata's tepemete at 52% is deeper; Lagrimas sits in the middle at appropriate intensity. Consensus 3.8; we agree.
Tepemete is Durango's tepextate conversation, at correct proof
Tasting notes
Nose: Tropical floral with mineral damp, a faint herbal resin
Palate: Bright and floral-chalky at 47%. Tepemete shares the marmorata family's floral-wet slate axis with tepextate; the Durango expression runs a shade drier than Oaxacan tepe and benefits from 47% proof
Finish: Floral, cool close
The bottom line
A buy as a Durango tepextate alternative
